Built in the 1870s
The Old Court began life in 1878-79, serving as the offices and showroom of one of Kidderminster's carpet manufacturers - Woodward, Grosvenor & Company - reflecting the town's world-renowned carpet-making heritage. Designed in the Queen Anne Revival style, the building became a landmark at the gateway to the town centre.
The adjoining Weaving Sheds behind the building were part of the wider manufacturing operation that helped establish Kidderminster's international reputation.
During the 1970s, the building was converted to accommodate the Magistrates' Court, giving rise to the name many local people still recognise today.
After the Magistrates' Court moved to a new location in the early 2000s, the building was left vacant until a major regeneration project transformed it into the thriving business and creative hub it is today.
Beautifully regenerated office, meeting and event spaces
Following a major restoration and refurbishment project, The Old Court reopened in 2025 as a vibrant business and creative hub. Supported by investment through the Government's Future High Streets Fund and Wyre Forest District Council, the project has given new life to one of Kidderminster's most recognisable historic buildings.
Carefully restored to preserve its heritage while introducing modern facilities, The Old Court now offers high-quality office, meeting and event spaces. Explore our venue hire page to learn more.
Today, it stands as a key part of Kidderminster's town centre regeneration, creating new opportunities for enterprise, collaboration and growth.
